Gildredge Manor, 11 Borough Lane,
Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN20 8BB
Full location details
Decorated in a feminine style with a "Summer Palace" wallpaper set into the original plaster wall moudings, this room reflects the fashion for Chinoiserie in the late 18th century, when this room would have been at its finest.
There are Grecian-style urns carved above the door, the original wooden shutters have survived (as has a p-pot hatch !) and the large neoclassical pillars create a frame for the end of the room.
Originally the family would most likely have eaten (or at least breakfasted) in here and indeed today this is a great room to set up a small buffet next to the bar!
The Ladies' Morning Room can also be set up for meetings and leads directly to the Library and Garden Room wing.
