Gildredge Manor, 11 Borough Lane,
Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN20 8BB
Full location details
Gildredge Manor is a Georgian Manor house originally built in 1776 as the home for the Reverend of Eastbourne. Soon after it became the family home of wealthy local landowners and over the years there were many extensions to the original house including most notably the additional single-storey "wing" built in 1883 (now the Garden Room).
There are many architectural treasures at the Manor and the house is typical of Georgian architecture, which was all about elegance, symetry and proportion. Inside there is a wonderful carved mahogany staircase running through the centre of the house and most of the original floors, cornices and coving have survived the centuries. We are still uncovering the secrets of this great house and restoring any little wonders we can. Please see below for some of the details and of course we'd be very happy to show you around in person if you're thinking of hiring the Manor.
By the way, most of our rooms are flexible in use and unfurnished allowing you to set up and style them as fits with your occasion and theme. We have free wifi in some parts of the building and a projector, screen and PA system/amplifier can happily be lent along with our tables and chairs. Do note that unfortunately there is no disabled access other than to the ground floor.
